Today we are excited to interview some of our mentors and teachers from our parenting years! Joey and Carla Link are joining us from Iowa to talk about their top 5 parenting tips and practices.

Welcome!

Bio for Joey and Carla

Joey and Carla Link are the Directors of Parenting Made Practical, have been working with families for over 30 years. Joey had been serving as a youth pastor for many years and took great delight in showing teens and young adults how to live according to biblical principles. (He still speaks at teen events to this day!) All too often however, the changes he saw the young people make did not stick unless their parents changed the way they related to them as well, so he added “Family Pastor” to his resume.

As Carla’s degree is in social work, together they are creative and innovative speakers as they share with parents how to raise respectful and responsible children. When the number of requests for them to speak at family camps, conferences and other parenting events multiplied, Joey and Carla started a non-profit ministry to families which they have been serving full-time with since 1994.

They are the authors of the popular Mom’s Notes presentations (I [Renee] lived by these in the early years!) and the books “Why Can’t I Get My Kids to Behave?” and “Taming the Lecture Bug and Getting Your Kids to Think“. They have been married for 45 years, are the parents of 3 grown children and have 5 grandchildren.

They also have a podcast called Parenting Made Practical where they give practical biblical answers and coaching on everyday issues parents face when they need to deal with their kid’s bad attitudes and behavior. They teach parents how to teach their kids to be obedient, respectful and responsible in today’s challenging world.

You can also find them on instagram at Parenting Made Practical, on Facebook, and at their website parentingmadepractical.com.

Because these two have decades of parenting, wisdom, and ministry to others in parenting, we thought we’d chat with them about the TOP FIVE parenting tips or practices that they find themselves talking about the most, or that they get asked about the most.
