Y’all. We’re so excited for this episode today. We’re talking to the dynamic mother-daughter duo, Simone & Olivia Knego (KaNAYgo), from Sarasota, FL. Olivia, 22, is currently in law school at Belmont University in Nashville (right in our backyard).
There are so many topics we could cover with them on this episode because Simone and Olivia host their OWN podcast called HER UNSHAKEABLE CONFIDENCE. But we’re going to try to narrow it down & then when you want more, you can hop on over to their platform & hear more there.
WELCOME.
(intro… Simone has 6 kids—3 adopted—is an author/speaker/coach about personal growth). How did you decide to team up for your podcast? Mother-daughter teams aren’t always smooth!
(similarity to hebrew word kenegdo…which translates “opposite him”, used in Genesis to describe Eve as ezer kenegdo. Like 2 planks. One who opposes.)
Simone, you wrote a book: The Extraordinary UnOrdinary You (2020). It’s a memoir of sorts, but ultimately is about how even ordinary actions can have ripple effects, and how we can make a difference. Can you tell us what prompted you to write it?
[You have a new one coming out in February of 2026: Real Confidence.]
Let’s talk about confidence.
Olivia, what have you learned about confidence from your mother? And is there anything you’ve taught her in return?
We live in a competitive, noisy, COMPARATIVE world where it’s easy to feel less than, invisible, or insignificant. What do you suggest to (women in particular) combat that or change those perspectives
Can you describe what confidence actually looks like—especially between moms and daughters? {Simone: Has being a mom of six kids shone any light on this for you?}
Olivia: What’s your perspective? …..owning your voice in a whole new world.
It’s not about having it all together—it’s about showing up as you are. How would you suggest women start trusting themselves, even when they feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or stuck?
Chaos, Kids, and Real Connection
Parenting is messy and beautiful and hard—and sometimes all at once. How have you two stayed connected through the chaos?
Holding Onto Yourself Amidst Everyone Else
Motherhood can make you—but it can also make you lose parts of yourself. Simone: How did you stay in touch with yourself while raising a big, blended family? Olivia, how did you find your voice in the mix of six?
Was there ever a time when you had to muster the courage to express your thoughts or feelings—how do you handle tricky conversations with spouse/family/others respectfully?
Breaking the ‘Perfect Mom’ Myth
Let’s be honest—none of us are getting it all right. And that’s okay. I’ll share what I’ve let go of over the years, and Olivia will share what actually mattered to her growing up.
It can be encouraging to ask yourself: Are you better today (or have you made more progress today) than you did at this point last year? What strategies do you use to make adding new habits more effective?
Mindset
You talk a lot about having a growth mindset. What do you mean by that?
